My helper made a find

today. The guy who is helping me on my 64 C60 while I had some jobs in the shop found a power steering box and hydroboost and pumpand lines. He says I can purchase for 150. I think that is a pretty good price now all I need is to find the power steering bracket for the 292 and I will be in bussiness. all the brakes are done we got the new and rebuilt wheel cylinders on and the rear drums back on the fronts should go on tommorrow .I am gonna paint the wheels while they are offand probably paint on the frame as well, just to clean it up a little. If there is time I will pull the seat out to get ready for a replacement and so I can clean on the inside

Re: My helper made a find

Power steering brackets for 292's are darn near made of gold. I did the hydroboost swap on my 67 with a 292, the brackets were by far the most expensive part.

Re: My helper made a find

Here is one solution to the hard to find OEM 292 power steering pump brackets

http://www.ebay.com/itm/292-CHEVY-PS...cbb24f&vxp=mtr

And here is an OEM setup as a comparison. This is typically what they go for.

Re: My helper made a find

I had seen those and they were in my plans. The helper came to the shop on friday with a hydro boost and a dual m/c setup and a power steering box off of who knows whatit looked just like a regular saginaw steering box. I told him it would'nt work since we did'nt have a power box to put on we didn't need a hydroboost. I have goten tired of this whole thing and decided to rebuild the m/c that is on it. We already have put new cyl's on front and rebuilt all four on the rear. It should do what I need it for.[hauling scrap couple of times a year. I get this out of the way so I can work on some of the other truck projects in line

hugger6933: those brackets on e-bay are really well made, and work great...you will need a type one pump to fit right...
