What do you guys think of this combo?

I'm looking at my opitions to upgrade from a 4speed granny trans, to a 4 speed car tranny I'm thinking about a B-W super t-10 probably out of an 80s camaro with 3.44 1st, 2.28 2nd, 1.46 3th, and 1.1 4th. My truck currently has a 12 bolt 3.07 rear end all this will be powered by a 292 I-6 which is in the process of being rebuilt, it will be almost close to stock nothing crazy will have stock cam grind, pistons .040 over, clifford intake with a four barrel carb, and a set of Langdon's cast manifolds. Now the question is will this tranny work good with my rear end and engine? If not what else should I be looking for? Thanks in advance for your time and advice.

That 3:44 first will work pretty good I recon to git 'er going, I ran a Malibu with a 2:88 first and 3:90 rears; made it just past the opposing cross walk for the 1-2.

I think it sounds like a great combo,as long as your not running a real tall tire on the rear.

I think you'll want a lower rear. I'd think 3.42s or 3.73s would be a better ratio for a manual. Did you like the 3.08s with the truck 4spd?

Re: What do you guys think of this combo?

Yes it was not bad at all, with the truck 4 speed i'd always started in 2nd gear which i believe has a ratio of 3.55 or something and with the 3.07 my truck didn't feel sluggish or slow at a take off even with a load on the bed, I could even start her from a dead stop in 3rd with a lil work on the cluth.
