Trailing arms

Are the trailing arms on a SWB and a LWB different lenghts? I would think that they are, but just want someone to confirm it. I can't find any lenghts on them anywhere on the net. If it helps trailing arms are from a 67 C10.

Re: Trailing arms

The difference is that the cross member the arms are mounted to is farther forward on the swb. So if you are shortening a long bed, remove 12" of frame in front of the cross member.

Re: Trailing arms

I was thinking of moving the trailing arms from my C10 LWB to my GMC SWB frame. I'm not sure which way I want to go yet. If I do move them what is involved in the move?

Re: Trailing arms

I don't know if the GMC frame is the same as the Chevy, as far as spacing, but you would have to move the whole cross member as well as the spring, shock and panhard mounts. Good luck.

Re: Trailing arms

The frames are basically the same dimensionally. There are subtle differences between the leaf & coil frame set-ups but one suspension can easily be swapped over to the other.
