1968 Lift Kit

Well evidently I have been the victim of wrong parts once again. My rear leaf springs are 52 inches but the center pin is offset. I am trying to achieve a 6 inch lift and run 37x13.50 Toyo Mud Terrain tires. I am willing to replace the entire suspension if need be. I would like to know what have you done to get the lift you want and whose kit did you use or did you have to make something work? I am going to be running the factory K10 running gear.

Re: 1968 Lift Kit

Now correct me if I am wrong but you measure the springs eye to eye and not through the curve of the main spring. I have measured from eye to eye and got the 52 inches on the rear springs.

Springs are measured when they are flat, so you have to measure along the curve. From the spring eye to the center bolt. So a 52" spring can be 24/28 or 26/26 etc.
Usually the small dimension goes forward on uneven springs.

I measured the springs as if they where flat. The springs measure 32/27. Now this makes them 59 inches overall. I have finally figured out that the springs are from ProComp and are listed as 56 inch springs. Is it possible to use these springs with some different hangers or do I need to purchase some correct length 52 inch springs? This truck is currently undergoing a full frame off redo and it probably will not see any serious off road use. It will be used off road just not as a rock crawler or trailblazer.

Pretty sure springs are measured from eye to eye, in a straight line (not along the leaves). I measured my K10 (52 in) and M1008 (56 in) this way.

Worn out springs would measure different than brand new springs if you measured eye to eye. To get a accurate measurement they have to be measured along the arch to the center bolt. Go to the General Spring web site and take a look.

My springs are brand new. When I figured out who manufactured the springs, the part number said that these springs are 56 inches. No matter how I measure these springs i do not come up with 56. Eye to eye measures 52 and down through the arch following the mainspring is 59. I think my major issue is the fact that the centerbolt is offset and is causing my axle to sit too far forward. When I flip the spring around the axle is pointed at the ground and now sits way too far to the rear. I am thinking that it is time to start over on this lift kit.

Re: 1968 Lift Kit

Sounds like you need the center bolt in the center.
26 x 26 = 52" spring.
I have bought lift kit springs from Tuff Country with no problems. I would use them again.

A lift spring would measure longer than 52" because of the lift. So thats probley why you got 59" insted of 52".

Looks like Tuff Country is the way to go. I will definitely look into them. Thanks
