my new(to me) project truck

This is my 1965 c-10. First mod is to say goodbye to the drum brakes up front. I know what you are thinking. It can go from 60 to 0 in three football fields, why mess with perfection? Well, guess I am just a stickler for actually NOT rolling through intersections. I am gonna use the 88-98 disc swap found right here on this great resource of a forum. Thinking of lowering it a bit in the process. What do you guys think?

very nice. welcome! I am aware that it is possible to use the '88 and up parts but more commonly used is the 73-87 suspensions. Now about the pictures, WE NEED MORE!

If you're gonna have the front end torn apart anyway, you might as well lower it too. Should look even cooler a little bit snugger to the ground.

Have fun... I started my 65 C10 project a month or so ago and started with the disc brake conversion as well as going to 5 lugs on all four corners... Enjoy your truck!

great start! swb, big window, that's all the bells and whistles I'd need to call it a perfect start! Yep, disks are a very nice, and safe, upgrade. I would tend to agree with cb - 73-87 bj's/tie rod ends, spindles, etc a more common approach. No advantage to 73-87 vs. 88-98 performance-wise, since either would be a major improvement, so cost might be the only consideration. If sourcing from junkyards, probably a wash. If sourcing from a kit - 73-87 much more plentiful (as in wider assortment of kits for 73-87, that's all).

You can't go wrong. I know CaptFab makes some brackets that work with either approach. In reality comes down to what wheels you want to run. If you want to keep a stock look but want disks, hard to beat 15x6 disk brake steelies (6 luggers from 71+ K10s and K5s). Looking fwd to more pics.

Jocko, I believe the OP is talking about using the LD2500 front brake parts which will give him 6 lug front disc brakes using all factory parts. This is all laid out in the 'Disc Brake Upgrade Reference Thread'

Yes CaptainFab, you are correct. I wanted to stay 6 lug. Plus I got a great deal on the parts as well.
