Another steering wheel saved (look pics!)
I've done a good number of these, but this is the first that I've done for somebody other than family, friends, or myself. I have a thing for original steering wheels and restoring them, but money changing hands, a time frame, and the pursuit of perfection kind of sucks the fun out. Oh well, this one turned out nice! It didn't look bad before it arrived, but it was in really poor shape. It had been painted at some point and had lots of deep cracks in tricky places not to mention a broken bolt inside the hub.
Here is the process (it looks so easy on paper LOL): 1) soda blast 2) grind/open cracks with a dremel tool 3) epoxy 4) file shape 5) epoxy touch-up 6) sand 7) epoxy primer 8) sand 9) glaze 10) sand 11) wax and grease remover 12) adhesion promoter 13) paint (single stage acrylic enamel w/ heavy dose of hardener) 14) wax 15) beer!
