'68 C20 No bite 2 Brakes!

Hello Again.

I just completely redid my front drum brakes (cylinders/shoes/drums/clean), and installed a new Master. Brakes have a large booster, about 5" deep. Bled, bled, bled all four wheels until clean fluid came out, and brake was/is firm. No leaks.
On my test run, there was little to no bite to my brakes. It was more a slow drag, w/ my applying strong leg pressure. The pedal remained firm 3/5ths the way down.

Maybe Booster? Not certain how to test?
That little manifold thangy below the Master? How test that ?
I imagne I should have more brakes/SOME brakes even if the rears are poor as it is a dual reservoir?

Thanks, and I apologize ahead of time if this topic is over grilled!

First off I'd suggest a factory service manual for '68. off the top of my head excessive shoe clearance fron or rear might be your problem. The proportioning valve requires a clip or a tool to hold it while bleeding, might also be an issue. Did you pressure bleed the system and bench bleed the M/C?

Re: '68 C20 No bite 2 Brakes!

I bench bled the master so fluid came out both reservoirs. I even bled in the truck a couple squirts.

Not certain what pressure bleeding is, but I bled each wheel w/ the nipple over bleeder to hose in cup w/ fluid technique.

I do have a couple manuals, and those have been an aide.

I hand adjusted the front shoes til a slight scrape.

I never in my 43 years bled a proportion valve? What is the name of said tool?

The booster is actually more like 7" thick.
