2 problems i need help with
250 inline 6 1bbl carb when i get going on the interstate at like 65-70 it feels like the motor cuts in and out about every 3 to 4 mins, also i bought a new alternator (160 amp racing alternator) and my volts are in the red at nightime

is The filter clean? getting enough fuel? Redzone as in 8 volts or 18?

also at the rpm's it would run at interstate speed could your vacuum advance not be working? have you checked and cleaned the dizzy cap and rotor? check you plug wires. As these trucks don't have obd it wouldn't throw a light if it was skipping or misfiring.

bad connections can cause the alt to overcharge. had a bad connection on one of my batteries that was making it do that on mine. it had a voltage drop and ramped it up.

i fixed the volts problem but not the other one. could it also be bad gas because it didnt do this until i went to a new gas station in town with "cheaper" gas

Bad gas might be plausible, our Camaro wouldn't run very great and even died with BP gas and we had to flush it and use another brand of gas.

yeah and i decided to keep the 6 in there till it blows haha. and i know this is kind of off topic but someone told me wheel spacers are hard on your wheel bearings is this true? because im thinking about getting 2in spacers

well adds a point of failure. the leverage could translate onto the bearings.

well the motor cutting in and out problem has gotten horribly worse its like it floods itself out when going up hills on the instersate. ive put different gas in it over and over ive tried 93 it dont help.

I don't know much about the way straight 6's are built or really how to diagnose them but generally knocking in a engine is not good at all. You may be switching to a V8 sooner than you think.

yeah id like to have it decent on gas also i remember when i had this truck and didnt have my license i didnt think gas would be that bad but then when i start driving it all the time its 20$ a whack

Gas as of right now is $3.21 a gallon in northern Indiana.
