letting bagged rear wheels hang free !

this may be a dumb question but is it ok to jack up the rear - let the rear wheels hang free with my trailering arm/frame bagged 66 lwb.
wondering if this strains the bags or if they have a built in max ht and are not prone to damage if i have wheels of ground .

Your bags should never be over extended. They will pull away from their base if they are. Your shocks should prevent the bags from over extending. If they don't then you need to support the axle.

thanks - i thought there was a prohibition on that. i dont have shocks yet ( am about to order em) but i wanted to get tires on the rear and i had to let the rear end down (frame supported) to get just enough room to squeeze the 235/75/15's into the wheelwell. only had to let it hang free briefly.... didnt grossly extend em. hope i will be ok. they are holdin air. live and learnlearnlearn.

If you have to lift the truck again before you install shocks (or if your bags overextend before your shocks do) chain or strap your axle to the frame first!
