Cool Replaced my heater core today...

Hey y'all! Replaced the heater core in my '72 today and found a nice little surprise:

Name: Heater Core 001.jpg
Views: 406
Size: 109.1 KB

Name: Heater Core 004.jpg
Views: 408
Size: 61.5 KB

Some friendly bees decided that it was a great place to make a beehive! So that's why whenever I turned on the fan a whole bunch of crap flew out everywhere.

Anyway, the replacement was a success, the truck is now heated... Just in time for summer?

It's not really summer around here. You'll still need that heater.

Isn't it nice to fix something like that before you're clearing the window with a towel and trying to fix it while your hands are numb from the cold?

Good job, hope you got th queen out of there.

Re: Replaced my heater core today...

I dunno, rat droppings can get sucked out by a shop vac, and won't sting you. Kudos for not procrastinating till winter. Seems every old vehicle I've ever owned decides to need a heater core a month after I buy it. I've come to expect it as part of the sale.

And ya, still need the heat every morning here to clear the windows.

Re: Replaced my heater core today...

Is there some sort of bracket that holds the heater core in place? When I bought my truck the heater box was off the firewall and there wasnt a heater core, one of these days im going to put it all back together. That bracket looks like the only thing im missing right now.

Re: Replaced my heater core today...

There are two brackets on the heater core that attach to the housing. I may have a pic in my build thread but I'm on my phone so I can't check right now.
