69c10 rear end swap?

ok again i have a 69C10 was coils in the back now its bagged... so the problem i have is the truck was 6 bolt and i did the disk brake/2.5 drop spindle/5 bolt swap... now i have a rearend out of a 71c10 and after looking at it i think it was out of a truck that had leaf springs...the spring mounts on the wrong side and it has shock mounts on it....guessing i cant run the rearend upside down?????? and that i just need to cut off the old mounts and weld em on the other side???any help would be great thanx

Yes, your going to need to put the correct mounts on it. Why not replace or redrill the original axle shafts? I prefer new shafts, but redrilling is a budget option.

Unless the newer rear has a gear set you prefer that would be my choice.

cool cool so i called the machine shop here in vernon and they want 80$ per side to drill them out......can i do this myself???? if so what is the best way? thanx again..

Recently there was a post about a guy on the HAMB that sold templates for redrilling axles. If it were me, I would not risk getting them off centered by doing a shade tree job.

Replacement axles arent that costly, and you know your riding on new ones. Redrilled are fine, but they are 40+ years old. Look closely for signs of damage when you pull them. If they look safe, you should be good.

well im going to check the gears on both and see whats what... if they are both the same i think i will just weld the new pertches on it will cost me 20$ and not 200$ to have the axles from a truck 2 years older drilled out to make it 5 bolt...trying to save cash and i have the time ...180 will get me a roll pan in town and i need one bad..lol
