factory heat shield mounting location?

a couple of months ago I purchased a pair of the factory dual exhaust heat shields for one of my '72's that came with a wood bed but the wood was to far gone to be able to tell where they mounted. I have done a long search for this info but came up with nothing but pictures of the shields off of the wood beds. Anybody here have a pic with them still mounted? HELP!

Re: factory heat shield mounting location?

Since duals only came on big block trucks and they are placed for the factory bends I'd see if this is what you need.

But I will keep looking for a picture as well. :-)

Re: factory heat shield mounting location?

I have the factory tailpipe brackets that are riveted to the frame for the duals but it originally had a metal floor. I have a wood floor box for it now that's why I need the factory locations.

btw thanks for the info tim, but if you could find a picture of an original setup that would be awesome.

ya, I found this posting in my earlier search. I have only seen these on big blocks as well, unfortunately the several examples I have had access to have either been sold or in one case my brother-in-law had a '70 loaded BB that was stolen.
