Wider steelies
Hey
New to the boards, and I have a question. I'm currently building a 1941 chevy pick up on an s10 frame. It currently has really narrow rims and tires. I would say the rims are 15x6 maybe even 5. I need new tires anyway, so I figure I'll get wider wheels. I have the red steel rims with the small moon center caps. I would like to maintain this look but with a more aggressive stance. Something like a 16x8 all around. Where can I find steel rims for my truck? Also what specs do they have to be. I believe my s10 frame is a mid to late 80s frame. Thanks in advance Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Wider steelies
Hello and welcome to the site. How far along is your truck? I really can't answer you question without seeing pictures first. Didn't you read the rules? Heh heh, just pulling your leg. But,I sure am curious to see what you've got.
You can find the steelies made new from Wheel Vintiques in a variety of sizes, either through them or vendors such as Summit Racing. To figure your back spacing, lay a straight edge across the back of the wheel from bead edge to bead edge and measure down to the surface at the back of the wheel stud holes. I'm not familiar with what an S10 requires, but I know the 1/2t truck wheels generally are about 4" +/-. There are other sources for custom made wheels but I think you'll find what you need with off the shelf wheels from Wheel Vintiques...and a couple choices in styles, such as good old OEM style and smoothie. Keep us informed which what you end up with. You may have noticed the pre-47 message board runs a bit slower than most others and the more members with these great trucks the better. Glad to see you here and if you get a chance, start a thread to show us what you've got.

Re: Wider steelies
This is how she sits right now. I have nicer door decals made for it with my sons name on them. The hood is there too, but I just finished installing that 350 crate motor and haven't put the hood back on. It's a "rat rod" without the rust. It's all flat primer black/grey. The frame is a 1990 s10. I have new Coker white walls going on next week and 1 1/4" spacers in the rear for a more aggresive stance. Im getting dual side exit exhaust made as well
The truck isn't done, so don't judge just yet! Lol Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Wider steelies
Those are beautiful.
For now because I'm out of $$ I'm going to use the rims i have (15x7) and put 1 1/4" spacers in the rear. I'm buying Coker white walls (235/75/15) which will allow me to get the stance im looking for on a budget. Eventually I'll spring for rims. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Wider steelies
I like it. It's more like a traditional hot rod project truck to me than a rat rod. Whatever you want to call it,looks like it's coming along nicely
