I need some tips on the best way to remove the chrome moulding from the windshield gasket on a '70 GMC. I have several tools made just for this purpose, but need to know if the mouldings are pressed in or glued? Is it better to remove them after the windshield is out of the truck? Do I start in the center or the upper edges? This is my first time removing these, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Not sure of any tool that will work well for that. Pull the glass and then pull the stainless trim. The stainless has a lip that "locks" in the groove.

not a 100% on this...but i thought the chrome trim had to come out first, that was what held the rubber to seal the windshield, and hold it in place, every one that i saw put a windshield in did it this way.....but that is what i think...may be wrong....they started in the middle bottom, took off the chrome cover if it had one and pulled the chrome rubber out of the windshield rubber gasket then the shield.....they should be pressed in....

You are thinking of the 73-87 windshield rubber.
It has a "zip strip" that helps hold the windshield in.

if you are using a new gasket cut the old one with a utility knife. if you are reusing the old gasket fold the inner lip under and push it out with the glass. dont push too hard .

So, the consensus is to remove the windshield, gasket and moulding as one piece. Then, remove the chrome trim.

Should the windshield be reinstalled with the chrome trim in the gasket, or after everything is back in place?

the trim goes into the gasket b4 you try installing the window
