A/C Compressor Problem

The A/C compressor on my 86 C20 keeps cycling on and off intermittently when the A/C is turned off. I can't seem to find any info online as to why it's doing this. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: A/C Compressor Problem

The clutch on the compressor uses an electromagnet to engage it could be a short / bad ground may be in the head unit, switch could be bad may be a simple junkyard fix I'd start with that AC buttion take a fluke to it and wiggle the piss out of it

Re: A/C Compressor Problem

The factory compressor is often also wired to run if you have the defroster turned on, in order to make sure the air directed to the windshield does not add to fogging instead of reducing it. Check to see if this is only happening when your defroster is turned on, or if the defroster switch is bad, along with the other switches.
