I got 'em
The elusive window locks for the Burb. Got some time today to do some work on the truck. Well more like dig into it and get an idea what all needs fixed. Came across the locks buried in trash in back.
Pic to follow, still haven't figured out how to upload from my iPad or phone. Still no commercial power, running a genny. 3days now, sucks!! Truck is in surprisingly good shape. 1 bad rusted spot will need a patch panel, the rest is surface. Engine, tranny & transfer case all seem solid. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: I got 'em
Good for you, I understand those are hard to find and expensive.

Re: I got 'em
That is what I've read here several times.

Re: I got 'em
that is a lucky find, Mike. I always dig to the bottom of any "parts" suburban I've run across. You're not the first one to find 'em under the junk in the back!
next set u find, keep me in mind.....I've NEVER found any! did u end up buying that rack from NH? (I dug all through that sub, looking for window locks.) Ed |

Re: I got 'em
get a pick of what these look like. I don't have a burb but know where two 60's models are that I can look at. I'm more into the trucks! I'd just charge what the salvage yard charges me, and they won't know hwat they have either.

Re: I got 'em
Ed, the NH guy is supposed to get back to me with a shipping price. I'm not sure I'm gonna get it though.

Re: I got 'em
Here is a pic of my elusive rear window locks. A lousy pic, my photo editing skills Suck. The 500kb size limit here is usually less than my Samsung phone takes pics. Not to even mention the 5mp on my iPad.

Re: I got 'em
mike, although I used to think they only existed in mytology, I have personally seen one of these so I know they do exist! I remember actually my son's suburban had maybe one, he lived in nrthern New Hampshire with that truck, and nearly froze to death that winter.....without latches, those windows constantly seem to shimmy open, no mater how you try to wedge em! I can't remember exactly what happens to them, what breaks, or why they fall off. Maybe since you have some in captivity now, you could anylize that and get back to us! LOL.
also, I'm thinking you need 2 for each side of the truck, no? did you find enough? unless your burb was a 6 pass, I've heard those only had one sliding window on each side, and the other was fixed? I've never seen one with any fixed glass. -Ed |
