Bazzar's 86 c10 5/7 drop..

I finally got the time and resources to drop my truck. The first phase was to get my exhaust and c notch done, Then began the install of the rear end first,I went with the DJM 1024 flipkit and 2" drop shackles,Install is pretty strait forward keep in mind that is just a basic kit, Does not include spring plates and u bolts. The main problem was drilling the 1/2 inch hole in the factory spring plates, this was a educated guess at best , but turned out fine after we basically installed it then pulled it back out to fine tune it..also the stock plate does sit way to close to the drop shock adapter ,anyone else have that prob. ? The next problem we encountered was the drop shackle wouldn't clear the bed frame rail. There is not alot of info on it, So yes it must be cut to clear shackle. Other then a few minor setbacks it went well, with all that being said it probably best to just spend the money , $50 or less for the spring plates, The back being done we went upfront and installed my 3" drop spindles and cut one coil off the front spring which is approx 2" for total of 5" overall. The front went smooth until we realized the brake line were pinched right between caliper and spindle, a little tweak of the hard line fixed that, and yes i was very careful not bend it.The total drop took all day..a long one at that...So thanks for looking and I'll keep ya updated on my next project, rollpan and some tint..

Thanks,The c notch is a McGaughy's.$129.00 I did a lot research on the best , turned out that it was rated best on install/strength, I had it done same time as my exhaust by a local shop, It's bolted and welded on the inside.I may have the frame boxed out when i have the exhaust finished, As far as the step bumper i have a roll pan lined up to replace it. $100 at our local custom chevy shop. thanks again

Nice name play rusty4x4...lol,The tires were on it when i acquired the truck they are 235-75-15 on stock truck rallys. They actually ride some what nice and still have lots of tread left so ill just run em for now...I dont think they look that bad for now... Whats your set up dusty ? it looks real nice, looks like you did a real nice job on your truck, nice ride..

Thanks for the kind words, all of which I am undeserving of. I bought the truck the way it sits. As far as the running gear, it's nice, I like it, but it wouldn't take much talking me into an LS/4l80e upgrade in a couple of years.

Re: Bazzar's 86 c10 5/7 drop..

The drop is awesome. I too just did a 5/7 last weekend and am still doing the finishing touches. I am replying to your comment about the shock extensions and spring plates. Yes, they are very close. At first I didn't think it was going to work! But there is no problem with them being close. Also, my bed does not have the large supports underneath where you had to cut for the shakle, and I did not have to cut the support. I have all the way to the bottom of the bed (so I have about an inch of room there now). Could be because mine is a '75. Anyways, nice lookin ride.
