Windshield "gasket"
I want to paint the top of my cab and the windshield posts to keep it from rusting till I can paint the whole truck. I want to cut off the rubber " gasket" that is glued to the winshield around the perimeter of the glass to get paint in there. Is this piece available without buying a new glass that it is glued to or can you just cut it and leave it off? I searched but didnt find what i was looking for. Sorry if i missed it. I have replaced my back glass and left this piece off because it was dry cracked and peeling off. I just sealed it to the truck flush.I appreciate any opinions on this. Thanks, Richie

I've not sure if Chevy fused this piece to the windshield or not. Maybe someone will chime in for you that knows.

Re: Windshield "gasket"
I've had my windshield replaced a couple times. The rubber molding is part of the windshield. They use a black rubber sealant to glue it against the cab. But the rubber you describe is attached to the glass from the manufacturer.

Re: Windshield "gasket"
When my windshield was replaced, the black trim was also replaced. Mine was in bad shape...from time out west. Then, I also found that whoever had replaced it prior to me buying 11 years ago, had not done the install correctly. They did not remove all of the old urethane and just smoothed up what was there and added more. The install done this time....perfecto.
