VIN help, please
From the door frame of my 63 4x4 Burb.
3k1460120930 Are they all Zeros or maybe some Os? Here is what I found from a vin thread here. 3=63, K=4wd, 14=1/2T swb, a 4 would be a truck so a 6=Burb? Oh or Zero=? Should be plant built at, but no matching plant. 120930, vehicle #, each year started with 100,001 So mine is 20,929? Thanks and Happy 4th of July!

Re: VIN help, please
there is a little more info on this thread,
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=3000006 we have figured out that the 0 -actually an "O" stands for the oakland calif. plant, which would also make sense for the location that you bought your truck... generally here in the west if you are east of the rockies you get a janesville wi. vehicle which also generally means rust, and west of the rockies you get an oakland vehicle which are mostly rust free. the rest of your info looks correct.

Re: VIN help, please
Thanks Jonz. I was guessing an Oh for Oakland, wasn't sure though.
What is the difference East of the rockies? More snow or do they use salt? Or?? I know out here they salt the roads so mine will be a no snow truck, probably only spring thru fall. Spring after a couple good rains at that. Any idea on the color code?

Re: VIN help, please
It looks like 526 is Cameo White . 526A, according to Martin Senour has Var. Upper whatever that means! Two tone ? White on the bottom with a color on the top? Give them a call , ask them if they have a definition.

Re: VIN help, please
most of the vehicles sold east of the rockies were from the janesville wisconsin plant. I think they started rusting right there at the plant
at my dads salvage yard I remember 567 chevys that were "local" to the area, one would be a oakland/l.a. car, and one would be a janesville car, the california built car would be rust free, and the janesville car would be rusting away. it has pretty much been my experience that if there is a "J" in the vin, there is rust.

Re: VIN help, please
Oakland plant went from 1917 to 1963 and was known as Detroit west and had 2 locations in oakland before moving to freemont. (might be off a few yrs) my 61k was also built in oakland as was a 56 nomad i had.
