The Scary Truck

Decided it was time to start my own build thread. The truck is a 1980 GMC Sierra. Decided to call it the scary truck in honor of a square that my dad had when I was little. I was terrified of the thing lol . This will probably be a moderately paced build. I don't have tons of room to work indoors so weather is a huge factor. Also Money is a little low.

Here is a few pics when I got the truck Saturday.

Also picked the truck up for $450. A steel in my opinion!

Re: The Scary Truck

Irrelevant to the build, but heres some pics of cleaning up from a storm that came through. Nothing like ripping trees out with a chain right?

Re: The Scary Truck

Update: Got the trim off, I was surprised with how rotted it was, ripped right off. Looks better in my opinion. Needs a bath though. The running board will come off eventually. Hopefully tonight I can get it running.

Re: The Scary Truck

Welp good news and bad news, turns out the problem with the truck not running is that there was a blown fuse by the starter. Why is there a fuse by the starter? Anyways, we replaced the fuse, truck started right up after a few tries, ran ruff. Then shutoff. Fuse was blown. And thats where it sits now.

Re: The Scary Truck

Hmmm....that's a tough one b/c it could be a few things blowing it.

Start checking voltage at the key to see if there is a short in that circuit.

Nice black Z71 by the way!!

Should I check the voltage before or after I put a new fuse in? I assume before? and thanks!

Re: The Scary Truck

Got the beast running Just replaced the blown fuse and unplugged the radio. Will have to work out the issues later on, main goal was to get it running. Runs like a champ! Will try and post video later.

Re: The Scary Truck

Spent a little time on the truck today (after driving it around joyously for about an hour!) Got the dash put back together and cleaned up some extra wiring, also got rid of some of the extra junk in the bed out. Now I can really get start working on it Also just sat some speakers behind the seats for looks, eventually I'll have a good system set up...

Re: The Scary Truck

I've had these side pipes sitting around the barn for a while, out of curiosity i set them by the truck. I don't think they'll be going on

what about 1000 watts to one 10? should sound pretty good tuned to 34hz, had a friend with that identical setup and it sounded really good. i dont just wanna be loud, but i want it to sound good too, not rattling or flexing

My bro runs 1,000 wats to a 15. It hits hard, but he has a dial so he can control it, so most of the time its a nice mellow bass, nothing too flashy.
