Re: was planning on buying a crown vic
Not really any big plans. I need to fix the dash because its just falling to peices.
Also im planning on replacing the wiring to the cab. Eventually I would like to get it painted and maybe drop it a bit. Actually today I stayed after work to remove the battery tray. Man after wire brushing the built up corrosion i started gagging. Had to get a soda to stop.but its all painted black and looking good. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: was planning on buying a crown vic
Lake Co., FL? At least it's not a coastal county. What year is it? I didn't see where you had listed that fact. Dash pads for these trucks are hard to come by. The '88-93's are one style, while the '94-96 in another and the '97-98, plus '99 Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban is a third style. I haven't found anything for my '96. Maybe that's why some folks just create custom dashes with 'glass.
Ditto for the door panels on '95-up. Saw Chip Foose do a 2-dr Tahoe and the interior got some custom mods. Nice.

Re: was planning on buying a crown vic
Its a 91 with a 5.7. The biggest rust spot is on the bedside where one of the emergency dial 911 decals was scraped off(surface rust). Everything underneath is solid. I got it off of a guy on craigslist. It belonged to his father who had bought it from Fl. He had it listed as a c1500. Its got a few dents and dings but they dont really show too bad with the sunbaked paint(flat white). But greasy handprints really show up. Any tips on removing them until I have it painted? I bought a gallon of simple green but havnt tried it out yet.

Simple Green is a wonderful tool. You can dilute it and mop your floors or use it full-strength and clean your engine. It smells good, too. Spray it onto your greasy spots and wipe 'em clean. Rinse well.....

Or if you're lazy, use brake cleaner. Not quite as environmentally friendly as Simple Green, but it works for us lazy folks...particularly when I...er...we find it on sale for .99 for large cans.

Yeah, but mopping your floors with brake cleaner isn't right......

Re: was planning on buying a crown vic
As fast as that stuff evaporates, I pity the fool that would try to mop with it.
I actually don't use a ton of it, but it's great for absorbing and removing grease and oil in small spots. |
