th400 kickdown switch
hey i have a 1980 gmc heavy half, 350/th400 combo im wondering if the kickdown switch is pootched if it would cause my truck to lose power and die when im driving it
iv pretty much replaced everything that might cause this problem my fuel lines and gas tank are next on the list already have new tank to intall, new parts already installed listed new carburator and filter in carb new fuel pump new dist cap, rotor, ignition module weights and springs in distributor work as does vac advance new spark plugs and wires new alternator trucks runs fine when in park idling but when you drive it a block or so away it feels like its losing power, when you go to give it gas it dies, if you put it in park it usually starts right away but as soon as you try to drive away it does the same thing but almost right away, like i said gas tank and lines are next could it be my kick down switch or something else electrical? i checked my engine to cab grunds and they are good someone please help before i burn this thing to the ground!!!!! |

Re: th400 kickdown switch
The kickdown switch or solenoid would not cause those problems.
Accelerator pump problems maybe? Did you set the timing? |

Re: th400 kickdown switch
i didnt think they would but thought id ask, the accelerator pump is on the carb correct? if so it wouldnt be that the carb is brand new, it was doing this before i put any of the new parts on, i wouldnt think it would be the timing the truck only has 55,000 original kms and was untouched until i took the distributor out to inspect it and replace ignition module, again for reference it was doing this before i took out the distributor and befor i put on the new parts
this truck does have duel tanks and my friend disconnected the drivers side tank do you think its possible he hooked up something wrong and its not getting fuel properly? |
