Gmc Or Chevy,your Opinions.

OK,I can't make up my mind on weather or not to leave this a GMC or change to chevy, the grill and bumper, hood and radiator support are all in excellent shape, and going by the glovebox sticker and holes in the bed where the emblems used to be it is a true seirra grande truck, which makes me wonder if I should make it a chevy or not,I have all the parts to make it a chevy, and they are all in excellent condition too,so I was just wondering what you guys thought.

i'd switch it over, i had a gmc 3 years ago as a project, and i couldn't sell it at all, then i swapped it over to a 72 chevy, i got about 1000 more than i had to have and had it sold in less than a week.

It's going to boil down to what you like, but since you ask for opinions: look at it this way it seems like for every GMC you see there are a dozen Chevys. I say keep it a GMC.

stay gmc! You just don't see as many GMC's out there. As griesel says " for resale" chevy's are better but if you are going to keep it, I say GMC.

Me personally, I like the Chevy front end over the GMC on our trucks. That said, if the truck is all original with good sheetmetal and is a Sierra Grande truck, I would probably leave it as is. ESPECIALLY if it's still going to be titled as a GMC.
A few years back I was at the Rod Run at Pigeon Forge and a guy there had an extremely beautiful restored 1972 Chevy truck for sale. After talking to him he told me that it really was a GMC that had been converted during the resto but was still titled as a GMC. He was asking $8500 for the truck and it was immaculate!! He had over $12,000 worth of receipts on it from the resto. Needless to say I would have bought it on the spot along with several other guys if it had the correct Chevy title. The guy finally sold it a few months later. I ran across the same truck at the same show a couple of years later and talked to the owner that owned it then. He had it for sale and had gotten the title taken care of by buying a rust-bucket '72 for a little of nothing and using the VIN plate off the rust-bucket and title on his truck. He was asking $12,000 for it now and probably got it as exceptionally nice of a truck as it was.

Keep it a GMC! I personally like Chevy's better, but that looks like a gem you've got there!

Restore it to the original condition.
Maybe a few upgrades like a Vintage air system.

Have fun

I may be a little partial, but I say keep it a GMC. I too like the 4 headlights a little better.

I painted the grill on my truck the same as the rest of the body and I think it looks really good.

If you are asking then you prefer the Chevy, so go with that plan.

If it were mine, I'd keep it a GMC.

Your front end parts could be resold at decent price to someone wanting to restore their GMC.

If you do convert, you'll need a chevy headlight harness to go with the sheetmetal.

Just don't cut the dash!

I prefer the look of the Chevys but I wouldn't hesitate to leave it a GMC as clean as it is. Just my opinion, though.

In my opinion you cannot "make" it into a Chevy. It will just be a GMC with the wrong front cap. Changing VIN plates to title it as a Chevy is dishonest and illegal in most states. As these trucks get more popular and there are more high dollar restorrations out there, the ones that the VIN matches on the plate, frame, and glovebox are the one that are going to bring the big bucks. If you are doing a complete custom where original is out the window...go for it. If you are going to sink a lot of money in a truck that is going all original..sell it and go buy a Chevy

If the title says GMC I would keep it GMC. The GMC trucks are the collector items of these trucks. My GMC truck books for $1800 more than the Chevy model of the same year, same options. While I do like the Chevy's, got 4 of them also, the thing is that everyone else has got a Chevy also. Its the fact that everyone has a Chevy that is driving the prices up on the GMC's

I'd keep it GMC, but maybe put a '67 or '68 front end on it. Looks good as-is though

I would also have to say GMC. I myself like the looks of both the chevy's and the GMC's. With that truck as nice as it is for as old as it is and being that it's a top of the line truck I just don't see the point of changing it over....... + the GMC's look tougher! hehe

Keep GMC's, GMC and Keep Chevy's, Chevy.

They both look great!

Besides, if you start mixing, you are going to kill your resale value when you go to sell. I always shy away from crossbreads.
