Re: Frame Powder Coating

They are great. If you can afford it then why not. Some people use paint some prefer powdercoat. Its personal preference and budget. With powder coating you need to clean threads with a tap. Ive done several frames with powdercoat. Never a complaint.

Re: Frame Powder Coating

When compared to the price of painting it properly and doing all of the prep work, the powder coat is just as inexpensive as the paint. I plan on powder coating my 68 frame.

Re: Frame Powder Coating

My only issue with powder coating the frame is down the road, if you end up making some changes, you can't really just "touch up" a powder coated frame like you can with something that's painted.

Think out your project and build once and don't go back.

Re: Frame Powder Coating

I called my powder coating place and they told me aroun 1300$ to do the frame rear end upper/lower control arms leafs and coil springs. Pretty much everything attached to the frame. Is that fair?

Re: Frame Powder Coating

Powder coating just the frame is $300-350 in my area, but thats just for black. Additional parts or colors add up a little more.

I have a hard time believing that someone would never, ever make a change to their truck after they build it.

I believe that if you think it out, the frame is one of the last things that you would change after assembly. If you do it right, then it would challenge any change that you could dream up.

I just finished checking with the sport truck shop in my area and the powder coat of a frame and other parts from it, will cost them $500.00.
