A Little Grille Help Please

It's been over 1 year since I took my truck apart. I took lots of pictures to help in reassembly but we had a computer "issue" & I lost most of the pictures. I have a 63 Chevy & can not for the life of me remember how the grille gets reinstalled. Any help here would be greatly appriciated. Thanks.

Re: A Little Grille Help Please

It bolts in from under the fender well into the back of the grill.

If the lights and buckets are removed it would be a simple matter to put them back in place.

Re: A Little Grille Help Please

I see it now. Attatch the 2 panels the headlights attatch to the grill, then install as a unit right?
The grille also has 3 mounting tabs along the lower edge with no corisponding points on the truck. I am missing something here as well, or is my truck missing something?

Re: A Little Grille Help Please

Here is the back side of a 61 grille and the back side of a 64 grille.

You can see the mounting stands/hole where the bolt from inside the fender well attaches.

Yes the buckets, lights and grille all install as one assembly and then the trim rings after you adjust the headlights.

The grille mounts to the radiator/grille support that runs in front of the radiator. If that isn't there then yeah, you are missing something.

the mounting tabs that are on the lower edge that go from one side to the other are for the snap in clips to hold the wire loom in place.

Re: A Little Grille Help Please

The 3 holes should match up to the grille support and if you reach inside under the fender well the bolt ( looks like a lag screw) should thread right back in place with no problem.

That center support has nothing to do with mounting the grille and I'm not even sure it belongs on a 63.

you missed 1 screw, bottom right, top left screw is accessed by taking the triangle shaped upper radiator cover off and going through the top... also this upper left bolt is special, the head is for a 1/2 inch wrench, but the bolt itself is the kind that would usually take a 9/16 wrench (I don't know bolt sizes, but it is bigger than the other 3.)

that center support is for 64-66 only

That makes sense as my headlight harness is currently just laying there loose.

Re: A Little Grille Help Please

Thanks everyone for your help, I got it figured out now. My first mistake was installing the
headlights & the panels they mount to on the truck first then trying to remember how to reinstall the grille.
