Need help with Leaf springs and passenger outer door handle.

1972 longbed C20 3/4 ton.

#1My problem is the rear is sitting low. The preivious owner told me he thought someone tried to lower it and probably took a leaf out. I counted 3 on there now and I was wondering if this is common for people to do it? I also want to put it back to stock height for now and wondering where I could get the missing piece(s). I would take pictures but it is raining out right now.

Any help appreicated.

#2 The passenger side door handle is pushed all the way in and not coming out. I assume I'll just have to take out the handle and go through it but wanted to see opinions/options on this to find out if this is a common thing.

Thanks again

Welcome to the 67-72 Chevy Truck board from West Michigan!

A local spring shop should be able to help you on the spring problem.

Usually when a button is stuck on a door handle the alignment for the push button rod is broken. Since the handle is made out of diecast it will be difficult to repair so a replacement handle is the way to go.

Re: Need help with Leaf springs and passenger outer door handle.

Thanks for the hospitalities. Does anyone know how many 'leafs' I am missing?

Little more about the truck
Automatic 3 speed.
Was a A/C truck but the compressor is long gone.
Aftermarket chrome wheels. (not a looker at all)
TIres are dry rotted and will need some replacements soon.

I don't care for longbeds but this one is actually growing on me.

My son's 70 3/4 ton GMC which has the original springs in it have 6 leaves per side so you are missing 3 leaves on each side.

Thanks for the help Jim. I look forward to start working on this thing. I got new door locks, carburetor rebuild kit and some things to tune it up.

Have you looked at your local pick/pull for the leaf springs. I know where I'm at there are several yards that have good parts for older trucks.
