Is this normal for bottom of cab?
I am about to start installing my Porterbuilt trailing arm crossmember and saw this on the underside of the cab,is this normal? Maybe a cheap and dirty repair?

Re: Is this normal for bottom of cab?
Judging by the pic's, I would remove the "repair" and do it right.

Re: Is this normal for bottom of cab?
It's one of those things that only you will know about.
Removing it all and doing it right is going to take longer than if it had been done right the first time. I am not sure the time you would invest into "doing it right" is going to be worth it, unless this is a high quality show truck. Can that seam underneath catch dirt and moisture? If so I would fill it with a seam sealer. Then I would leave it until YEARS later when I was tearing into the truck again and fix it right.

That is what I am thinking. I am building a budget friendly driver. I cannot afford the money, space or time to tear it down and have the whole cab worked at a body shop right now. Maybe later down the road if I decide to tear it down and do a complete frame off I may do it then. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Is this normal for bottom of cab?
Since you're on a budget, wash it out to get the grime and dirt out then dry it out thoroughly and spray a rubberized sealer or some other sealant to prevent moisture and grime from getting back in there until you decide what to do with it.

Re: Is this normal for bottom of cab?
Thats a pretty funky repair, Im guessing the put a better front floor under a rusty one? I am more concerned with the frame where they beat the crap out of it by the trans crossmember. Sooner or later I would fix it "right" but I understand the time and $ involved. I would probably clean out the seam and weld it and use a seam sealer on it for now anyway. good luck I am sure you will love the Porterbuilt goods!

Re: Is this normal for bottom of cab?
If it were mine I'd leave it. I'm over tearing into stuff just to make it nicer. I was just looking at my rocker panels the other day, there is rust bubble all over them. 4 years ago the cab was perfect, all original rust free. Now it's starting to rust. Nebraska winters got me good!
