rear bumper mods

Hey, I have this bumper. I plan to modify and reuse it. Anyone have pics of modified stock bumpers?

Re: rear bumper mods

Bumpers like yours are unique in that they allow the gate to hang straight down, and could be useful in certain loading situations. I can see why you would want to modify as they are not the best looking.
It's kind of wide open on the ideas for modification. Maybe use a different bumper altogether?

Re: rear bumper mods

I didn't post as my rear bumper is the stock black bumper, sorry. There are lot's of options. I have seen some use a bumper like mine except from a 67-72ish, difference there is the license plate cutout is at the bottom. Not sure if all 67-72 bumpers bolt right up, but some do. I like the look that some have gone with, no bumper and a roll pan. Look through some build threads for ideas.

Re: rear bumper mods

You could run dual exhaust through it, or put some "speed" holes in it for fun. Just a quick thought. Maybe even a frenched 3rd brake light as well. Keep thinking.

Re: rear bumper mods

Smooth the bolts and the light. Put LEDs shining down on the plate so they don't show. Round off the corners with sections of welded in 2" black pipe.

I'm not a big barden bumper fan but this one on CL is pretty cool.

Agreed! Even if it did not have the Foyt name on it, that's a pretty decent looking step bumper. I wonder how common they are down there in Texas.
