School me on relocating front spring hangers
Tell me everything I need to know about doing so. If I move them up only two inches will any of the holes match up? Will I need to cut/notch anything? Is it easier to spend the $150 and just buy drop hangers? Will I need to drill new holes in the hanger itself or will two holes be enough? I can't find a single thread specific to this.

why not just flip it? here is a picture from my friends truck when we did drop hangers. you wil have to redrill all holes

Re: School me on relocating front spring hangers
I've given this a lot of thought and I think I'd rather go 4" in the back for now. Believe me I would love to flip it but I drive it all year round in Chicago. I think the 2.5/4 drop will be just fine for now.

Re: School me on relocating front spring hangers
i think relocating the hanger and removing a couple leaves would be good, then you could put it back and flip it in the future if you wanted to go lower

Re: School me on relocating front spring hangers
removing the stock hangers and moving them up to the last boltholes will yield you about 4 inches of drop, but it's not for the faint of heart. if you're gonna do that, i suggest removing the bed, cause believe me, i know... been there done that. got the idea from keith seymour, a member on here. either way, if you go moving the stock hangers or shackles, depending on your leaf spring pack length, you're gonna have to notch the bedrail.

Re: School me on relocating front spring hangers
bump...been looking at this as my next venture paired with drop shackles in the rear perches......i already have a flip kit in place, and plan on notching my frame.
i seen that this guy here : http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/sm...?topic=22497.0 did something similar. also wondering at......how is the structural integrity of the hanger when you cut the entire top off of it like he did? enlighten me. |
