First Gen Sliding windows - CL Portland
http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/pts/3143165616.html
You don't see these for sale very often. Odd that they open like a PU rear window, but still would be nice to have. NOT MINE, just found on CL and thought I'd share.

Re: First Gen Sliding windows - CL Portland
Been looking for a set, but I heard they take a special rubber weatherstrip which is missing. Trevor

Re: First Gen Sliding windows - CL Portland
I doubt you'll find any with the rubber weatherstrip. I'm sure if you pickup a catalog from a weatherstrip company, you'll be able to find some stock that will work.

Re: First Gen Sliding windows - CL Portland
The rubber on the set that I used to have looked to be just a stock double wall gasket, (unfortunately I cut it and tossed it upon removal)
I think they used a special gasket when going into a single wall top due the flange being thicker than stock single wall glass. |

Re: First Gen Sliding windows - CL Portland
Do you think they used different seals on the sliders as aposed to glass seals? The reason I ask is side glass is pretty thick. I just seems to me that if the manufacture is making a special slider for these tops that they would or could use the same seals. Also I have read in other post that some say that the seals for a double wall and single wall are different, I've had both and interchanged with no problem, the flange where the seal sits on top was the same on my double and single.

Re: First Gen Sliding windows - CL Portland
If you look at the pictures, it looks like the aluminum frame is pretty narrow where it goes into the weatherstripping. I would suspect that the aftermarket manufacturer used an off-the-shelf weatherstripping rather than having something manufactured specifically for their windows. That would make me think they used the factory seals.

I tried to respond to the ad, but it said it was no longer active. Anyone else try, or have a way to contact the guy?

Re: First Gen Sliding windows - CL Portland
I contacted him yesterday...said they were sale pending to a local guy. I told him that I'd take them if that deal fell thru

Re: First Gen Sliding windows - CL Portland
Aftermarket. A dealership may have sold/installed them but not factory.
