never seen one like it

I went to my local upullit to day and got me a few nice items. Got a nice sliding glass rear window out of a 69 that had an odd bed with a camper. The bed flooor was rust free and and very nice, but i never saw a bed like this. Has anyone else saw one before? Check out the cab lights. It was from California.

Re: never seen one like it

Pretty wild! It looks like if someone did that his self, he did a good job of it. But my question would be-why? Looks like the shell would have fit on a standard bed, of course, who knows if that was the reason. Maybe the guy was really short and wanted to be able to reach into the bed from the sides. In the picture that shows the inside, I'd like to see what the tail gate support (?) is hooked to. It looks like it continues up toward the nornal place, but hard to tell, it goes out of the frame.

Re: never seen one like it

That's one of a kind and have no idea why. A brands back then had beds that were close enough in dimensions things like this shell would interchange from one brand to the other...the way it should be now.

That is certainly different. Were the engine stands in it?

Were there any other old trucks in there? I'm going to be over therre tomorrow and might stop and check it out.

It looks like the driver belt is there as well. You can just see a little bit right up at the top.

Re: never seen one like it

Maybe it was done for another reason and the shell came later. However it ended up like that, it's an interesting curiosity

Re: never seen one like it

Here's your answer.I say that full well knowing it's only a viable guess.Back in this era there were some trucks, whether done by a conversion company or individuals is anyone's guess, that were cut right above the wheelwells like this. They then added a flatbed. There's a movie with one in it but I can't remember the name of the movie. The truck was either a 67-72 r a 72 up.I think that may have been the case with the one pictured since the bed floor is so nic.Later someone wanted a cover on it and had to build up the sides to fill gaps.Just a wild guess but it all fits.I've seen the one in the movie and one other. Now this one.

Please go back and get the shoulder belts. It kills me that they are just hanging there. LOL. Truthfully, they are the rarest option out there. You never see them.

Re: never seen one like it

I was searching CL and found someone looking for the same truck as in the pics. Dont know if he want that specific truck or just one as presented in his pics. I would appreciate it if I got a bird dog fee for turning this up though. lol

The add says...
If anyone has this truck with this box, I one buy ,im pay 8000 to 10000 dollars, in any condition,, is mexican edition ,,, email me

That is different but there is one of those on here that turned up in canada about a month ago. It has the mexican box and spanish on the gauges with Kph speedo. The owner was going to remove the bed and gauges and make it look like everyother C10 I'll find a link to that one in a min...

Re: never seen one like it

Darren, that is an interesting bed on that truck. I would like to see the top of the bed without the camper. It would make a neat custom. The flatbed idea is a good one. You would have hauling capacity with the flatbed and storage under. The tops of the fenders have been flattened also.

It's funny how this thread derailed into a mexican truck discussion.

Mike, That Mexican truck bed looks like it should be on a Ford. However, I have never seen one before, very interesting.
