1984 A/C Accumulator styles
Hey guys,
I have a question regarding the style accumulators for the factory A/C system on my 84 Silverado. It appears that the factory accumulator’s output tube is coming from the bottom (red arrow), where the aftermarket ones have the output tube at the top of the accumulator (black aarow). Will these aftermarket accumulators work with the factory hoses? The reason I am replacing the accumulator is because when I was working on the truck, I accidently damaged the aluminum tube (the one coming from the bottom of the accumulator). Also, since I will be flushing the system and recharging it, I wanted to replace the accumulator. I believe the reason these aftermarket accumulator’s are designed like this is to eliminate that funky U shaped aluminum tube. It looks like the factory hose could screw right onto the accumulator instead of screwing to the funky tube. Anyone running this aftermarket style and still using factory hoses? Thanks, James |

The one shown from ebay is the later style, mine on my '85 and '86 are like that.

Check out napa and oreilly auto parts, and probably rock auto. I did a quick search and they had the correct drier and the lower tube for your 84. Hope this helps.

Don't buy your parts off Ebay. Buy from a local parts store. If they get you the wrong part they will return it, and get you the correct part. And what if the part from Ebay goes bad while under the warranty. Then what do you do.
