Control Arm shaft bushings - proper name? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'm ordering all the parts to rebuild my suspension, so be prepared for a bunch of noob questions from me on it!

For my 3/4 Longhorn 1970:

I'd like to retain my original control arm shafts, but I can't find the rubber ring things that go in with them. I can buy entire replacement arm kits that include them for as low as $5 for the uppers, but the lowers get pricier.

Is there a name for these things? I might not be searching properly... at least on Rock Auto I can't find them.

GM calls them "SEAL,Steering Knuckle,Upper and Lower Control Arm"

LMC sells all the pieces individually according to their catalog. The seals are $3.95 each. Of course, I can't vouch for the quality.

i think there called upper and lower control arm bushings....that what i have always called them.....never had a problem getting them...

I found them on rockauto for you, you have to search for "control arm shaft kit" and you have to buy exactly that the whole shaft kit which is a little spendy but worth it for quality suspension parts. FYI I searched for a 1970 C20 350cid. I bought these for mine but Im dont recall if the C10 uses the same or different PN.

And FYI for anyone else, I have searched long and hard and no local parts stores or online parts stores sell just the bushings themselves. Only resto companies which are carrying the different shaped off shore ones from what I could find anyway, Trust me I searched for hours trying to save a buck!

If there is a fit issue... I would try WES at Classic Heartbeat or Paul at GMCPauls and they should steer you correctly. There are also other good Board Vendors on this site that could also give you sound advice.
