I asked this question on another thread but I'm starting a new one to get better visibility. After removing the cover and driving out the 2" pin that I beleive holds in the tilt steps or shoe, what's next? Do I remove the small retainer clip that was next to the pin.
I like to dissasemble my tilt column completely.
With the 2" pin out everything is still tight in place. Could someone get me to where everything is visibly self explanatory, then I'll take it from there.

There are two side pins that have screw threds in them,you will need to pull those. without that 2" pin the tilt steps or shoe wont be held in place and the springs will push them out.

Thanks...I found a thread explaining this by searching back. I should have left that pin in there. But my main dilema now is removing the right pivot bushing or whatever it is called. The left one came out real easy. I've been working on the right one for an hour with a slide hammer and wd40 with no results.

Do you have the spring out, and is the tilt up?

Some of the trunions can be tough.

There is a puller made for pulling those tight trunnion pins. You could try a little heat with the WD-40 Good luck

I did get the spring out .It was your post that I found after I saw another post about removing the other pin. Anyway, the left trunion came out easy. The right one wouldn't budge even with wd40 and at least an hour of slide hammering. I finally broke the screw in the hole so I have to go to plan B. Plan C would be bringing out the sledge hammer.

Well plan B was not pretty but I got the darn trunnion out

. Trust me, it would have been a whole lot messier if I had to result to plan C. I'm calm now :p and I'll leave the heavy bag alone and eat dinner instead.

Ahaaa!!!!

Question: Both hammers are different and i didn't mark them before they fell out. One has 4 notches and the other has 3. Can someone tell me which one goes where?
