Newbie here looking at buying a c10
Hello all i'm for thornton, co. I'm looking to get a nice project with minimal rust - i want do do somewhat of a mix of a pro street and resto (if that makes any sense?). I want a nice looking cruiser (nice wheels, paint, lowered supsension - thinking static to start) with a nice built drivetrain. I'm looking primarily at the 70 and up c10 swb (doesn't have to be a swb -just prefer the looks). Where are the common rust spots to look out for. Also what does everyone think of this
It's on craigs for a song, 79 swb c10 on 20's. Looks like a pre 72 front grille, shaved tails, door handles, not really sure how much I like it. Prefer something all original I honestly would prefer something mostly original with minimal rust. Anyone know of anything local or near colorado? Also a litle about my vehicle history - mainly old school vw's (bugs and rabbits) - then got into the awd turbo dsm's. Blah i'm ranting. Hope to meet some nice folks here and learn a good deal about these great trucks! See ya, Kevin. |

the grille is post 73. looks to be about 75-76? If I were you I would start with an all original rust free truck. You don't know how much the PO beat on it

Welp he says this truck is rust free...i want something a bit more original though. From what i have gathered the common rust spots are at the cab floor, rocker panels, basically the whole cab is a big rust magnet. What else should I look for? Ultimately i plan to do a cab off resto, lsx swap, etc. For the time being though it will be a slight redo of the exterior (hopefully not a lot of rust). Redo the interior, freshen up the motor, static drop 4/6 and new 20" wheels (probably from coys)

check the passenger front fenders just below the battery , front of the bed and rear fender wells also rust can hide there to.
