looking for pics of 65 6cyl A/C brackets

I have my Grandpa's 1965 C-10 with a 230 6cyl and I am wanting to put A/C on it. I have several factory A/C setups but they are all for V-8 engines. I would like to retain at least somewhat of a factory appearance, I have thought of using a modern underdash unit and plumbing it through the dash and using the original A/C bezels I have, but I still would like to use the original style brackets and compressor.

Does anyone have a 64-66 factory or dealer installed 6 cyl A/C truck they can post pics of so I can see what it looks like?

Does anyone know of a place to get these brackets other than wait for a set on Ebay?

Thanks for any and all help PICS needed please

Re: looking for pics of 65 6cyl A/C brackets

Good luck with your hunt as I have searched many times for the same picture or brackets. The best I could find was an early aftermarket under dash set up but without the bracket for the compressor. I did at one time have a picture of the original bracket but it has since been lost, I wish someone would find one and try and reproduce it, lots of L6s out here. The aftermarket air for L6s used a york compressor found one but the guy would'nt sell.

Re: looking for pics of 65 6cyl A/C brackets

This is after market under dash a/c.

Front of the bracket, bolts behind the water pump pulley just below the thermostat housing.

This is the top of the bracket, looks like the first two head bolts are used.

Another pic of the front were the compressor bolts to it.

Hope this helps.

Re: looking for pics of 65 6cyl A/C brackets

If there is no difference between a 64 and a 65 then here is a 64 A/C bracket
that was on my 6cyl 250.

which just happens to need a new home.

I have a couple A/C brackets off later 250's that use the round R4 radial compressor, my trouble is they use 2 mounting bosses below the timing cover that my older block doesnt have. I am looking for the long A-6 axial style compressor.... Old air and vintage air sells a bracket for using yhe newer sanden compressor for less than 100 bucks, this might be the best way to go.

Re: looking for pics of 65 6cyl A/C brackets

1963 were the same as the passenger cars. In 1964 they changed to a cast bracket? I have a cast bracket that I won't be using now that I have the correct one. When I look on craigslist I look for adds featuring inline`s, they don't often advertise A/C brackets. Found two others that way, though I did not purchase them.

Call him and ask if you could buy just the A/C brackets and compressor.

Re: looking for pics of 65 6cyl A/C brackets

So are the brackets the same between 63 and 64 except one is cast and one is stamped steel?

So the picture you posted is what I need to be looking for?

Re: looking for pics of 65 6cyl A/C brackets

The picture I posted is from the 1963 Custom Accessories Installation Book. The bracket is stamped steel. The cast bracket I have from a truck in Texas was located in the same position. I was there when they removed it.

When I started looking in the parts book, the part number changed in 64. I've read that they went to a cast iron bracket instead.
You can get a compressor aftermarket rebuilt.

The Craigslist ad states the brackets are from a 1963, if that's true, then they would be stamped steel.

Hope I have not confused your thread to much. Maybe someone has the 65 Custom Accessories Installation Book to confirm.

Re: looking for pics of 65 6cyl A/C brackets

And if it looks like your big HEI will conflict with mounting the compressor on the passenger side, Tom Langdon sells a "mini" HEI which looks like the stock points distributor. I bought one, and it clears my Sanden compressor on my 292 just fine.
