more belly room........what seat?

Wondered if a 88-98 seat would adapt , it would be easier than a diet.

Re: more belly room........what seat?

Lol, I knew a big guy back in high school took his seat out and put a couch cushion on the floor of his square.
I think the 88-94 bench seat is about the thinnest one out there. If that isn't enough might have to get a seat at Jenny Craig.

Re: more belly room........what seat?

Why not pull your column colapse it and move the mounts? I believe you can gain 3 inches of room

I believe there is also a thread where a guy modified a s10 column to fit in his square and gained 3 or 4 in.

Mine is an 87 has wiper switch in stalk. Don`t know if it can collapse without a lot of fabrication.

Re: more belly room........what seat?

88-98 seat works nice but you have to section the bottom rails to fit. I have a 60/40 seat out of a 1993 silverado in my 74 stepside.

Re: more belly room........what seat?

last real good chevy seat sat on was my moms 68 impala "sofa" seat. probably going to get flamed for this, but i installed(hack, hack) ford king ranch leather buckets & split bench in my 85 crew. 8 way power & heated & almost a direct bolt in with tons more room, i did throw seat covers on to cover up the king ranch logo

I think you just pull the mounts off and weld them further up the column and the colapsable part is in the engine campartment. The shaft that goes to the steering box

Re: more belly room........what seat?

I took the smaller steering wheel option, and old camaro/vega wheel, it is like 15" dia wheel, a few inches smaller than the truck wheel.
