It followed me home

Went to an auction Sunday and this is what happened.Just pulled her home today. It's a 1967 C20. 4 speed 6 cylinder(froze up I think) big window.Manual Steering and Manual brakes Not much for options and no title,I think I'll need a tetnous shot before I sit in the seat but oh well. I needed the box so everything else was just a bonus. Probably be some parts available once I get past my son's graduation weekend and can get the time to take her apart. I've finally realized I can't save them all.Cab needs rockers and corners and aleast one rear support. Not sure on floor as it is all there from under except along rocker and under jack area Here are some pics.

I couldn't believe my luck either on that speed warning dash. 6 months ago I had never even seen one except in pictures and now the last three trucks I have bought have had them.Go figure!! Now if I could just be as lucky with buckets and tilts!

I would love to put it back together but the box needs to go on the green 67 I got in february. The green one has some rust on the lip that supports the wood around outside edge inside the box. Also will swap drivers fenders as this one has a perfect one.

Was looking at glovebox tag and at the top center section it says
"special Paint" . Can't hardly read the rest of the options but what the heck is so special about that paint? Anyone else have that listed or know what it means?

I have that paint on my '67 short step but cannot read the glove box...it got painted over. I agree...what is so special other than it maybe was particularly porous to let the rain through and rust the truck. That sheet metal looks pretty good to me! Your green truck must be a much better foundation to pull this one apart but go for it if you must!

71402BB...if Solver does not want to sell you his horn button, I have the identical button and a good steering wheel I will be pulling as soon as I get my power steering installed. Solver has the first option to sell however.

Special paint may imply it was a fleet vehicle of some kind. Given that it has a speed warning too, I'd lay money on it. Speed warnings while not popular with the general consumer were a big item in fleet vehicles to keep the employees foot out of the gas.

Yet another little know factoid from the recesses of my murky past.

Nice find. FYI, a lot of Gov't fleet vehicles were equipped with shoulder harnesses, probably mandated as a "lead by example" thing.

I'll also add that this truck has the "Custom" bright metal trim and chrome bumper but not the hood trim or fender eyebrows. This is a good example of an original 67 custom as delivered from the factory. The eyebrows and hood trim were a late 67 introduction (due to supplier/tooling problems) and most 67's with these were installed after the sale by the dealership. Basically, you could bring you truck back to the dealer and have them installed when they became available.

My assumption of this being a fleet vehicle is further supported by the fact that the owner never bothered to have the extra trim installed.

I prefer the cleaner look w/o the added trim myself.

71402BB needs a set of those chrome headlight buckets too.

Hey if you plan to part the truck, id be intersted in the trim off the sides, if its still in pretty good shape! Good luck with the truck otherwise!

Good find for sure... you found 3 speedwarnings in 6 months.. that's a good pace, took me years to find one... and I've paid other people for them....I only came across one myself.

By the way anyone have a pick of where the speedwarning buzzer mounts... I get asked that once in a while, it's kinda hard to describe.

I checked my truck today and the buzzer is still there and complete so I wil take some under dash pictures tomorrow on location.
As far as eyebrows and hood trim is concerned I think they look like they are missing something without it. I will definetly be looking for that trim when I put my green 67 together.

You don't suppose I could still go to dealer and have them put it on?jk
