Re: WHat did you get done 7/22/2012 edition

I installed a radio and speaker in the dash. Cleaned out the interior, ripping out the nasty carpet and dash board. Removed a huge ball of useless wires left by the PO. Got most of my steering wheel "un-sticky'' using a little bit of carb spray, water, scotch bright pad. Next we will be polishing up hubcaps and repainting the wheels white or black.

Dumped the transmission in my 50 (TH-350), going to check around this week for prices on a rebuild. That's why we call them "Projects"! LOL

Pulled and regreased my distributor, cleaned my plugs off and replaced a charred plug wire trying to solve a miss im having. Havent got the dist reinstalled however, feeling kinda burned out working on it in the 100+ degree Texas heat.

Fire that truck up at nite with no lights on and see if you can see any spark's.

That's how I accidentally found my miss on my Suburban.

Re: WHat did you get done 7/22/2012 edition

Finished up the TBI wiring harness for my 84' except for some connections that have to be made in the truck (namely, the other side of the ppl/white wire that serves as the crank signal for the ECM, battery power, and the switch input for my ignition relay), got a new fuel pump and sending unit installed in my new 20 gallon EFI tank, and got the tank crossover lines installed in the truck in prep for the EFI switch valve.

Re: WHat did you get done 7/22/2012 edition

i actually did quite a bit

yesterday i FINALLY found time to wash my daily driver (2001 dodge ram 2500 cummins diesel) and i got my dads car out and drove that around a bit (2003 ford Thunderchicken)

today i went to a car show and scored a top 50 award. Came home and truck was BADLY missing on the top end of 2nd gear (completely losing power when 3/4 throttle or more was applied, letting back out of it to have it coughing, farting, hiccuping etc) so i went to my Oreillys and picked up some tune up parts......pics of parts to follow, first of all, heres som epics of old plugs (been in truck 10-12 yrs, 25k miles on them) plug wires were horrible, looked like burnt insulation etc on them

Out with the old

In with the new

Mind you, the plug wires were a cut n make your own kit.....never done that before, complete mess and confusion, BUT i got them done and they work. Fuel system cleaner is to hopefully help with that loss of power issue, if its not the filter, hopefully its not a weak pump, if so, their cheap! Cap, rotor and coil are all self explanatory as well as fuel filter. Took about 3-4 hrs till it was all done, longest part of it was fighting those dang plug wires!

I just about finished up with my LS swap. She is running but still needs a tune.
I also finished putting her back together and loaded it up on a trailer to take over to the tuner.

Finaly had some time to work on the truck, installed a new fuelpump, and set the timing. Runs much better now, should have changed that pump long time ago.

Re: WHat did you get done 7/22/2012 edition

Installed some new MSD plug wires and wire separators. Sure runs better now that the old plug wires are not shorting to the headers. Just need to install all new belts, re-charge the A/C and get the exhaust work completed. Should be driving it in 2 weeks or less. This d@mn heat sure makes it tough to do anything on it. Been 100 degrees or more every day now for 3 or more weeks.
