relocated gas tank to day on the 66 GMC today.
we installed the gas tank today on the 66 GMC. we chose to go with the rear mount location. ill post some photos to show how we did it. the next plan of attack is to choose the type of filler neck to use. Ive been looking but still have not settled on one yet i welcome any ideas or posts on a nice set up.

Looks good. I have the same one in my truck, but haven't addressed the filler neck issue either. Interested to see what works.

67-72 blazer tank. I also have one going into my truck. As with both of the other guys I don't know about the filler. I might try a Hagan Fuel Door for it. I like the fact that the cap has a trap door so you don't have to take the cap off to fill with fuel. http://www.haganauto.com/fuel_doors_gas_lid_s/5.htm

Same here. I plan on putting my filler neck on the outside of the stepside fender. And I will be using one of the "Pop-Up" motorcycle caps. It is just in the planning stages and I will be watching this to see other ideas.

If you need any 1 3/8" filler hose, I have about a foot of it left from my Blazer tank install.

If your truck is a fleetside, you could check out a side filler from a suburban, or panel...if the space between the inner and outer panel is the same as a sub, it seems like it could work? I picked this one up recently from a junk suburban, hoping I might be able to add a second tank to my suburban someday. Just an idea, unproven as it is.

Looks like an LMC tank. What kind of sending unit would you use? One from a 67-72 Blazer? Or would another one work?

You can order the tank with a 0-30 ohm sender.

Re: relocated gas tank to day on the 66 GMC today.
I have the same tank installed on my 64. I purchased from CPP. I worked and worked at it, but end up having the neck and all vents welded and had a new neck welded in the center to come up thru the wood with a one way vented cap. The fill neck the tank comes with is exactly where you don't need it. I can post a pic if you wish. But, in saying that, I sleeved the 1 3/8 neck that it came with at one time to a 1 1/2. 1 1/2 is easier to fit than the 1 3/8. I have extra pieces of that sleeve if you need one and also some hoses in both sizes. Marty
