69 seat help needed

Seat looks like maybe a recover at some point- but interestingly it has a tag on back that read "8-24-70" although the truck is a 69. Maybe it was replaced at some point but I dunno. I have included some pics of the seat in the album in hopes of getting some advice and help about rebuilding it. I think it is missing a large spring on the bottom, and the lever is broken that moves position- and that side seems stuck in place. Not sure what the mechanism should look like factory. Any help on what I may be missing so I know what to ask for on the classified boards would be great. Would like to tackle a re-cover myself- and read the 72 bench rebuild thread here with interest. Can someone tell me if I need another large spring on the bottom passenger side? Does the passenger side rod end need a spring and retainer clip like the drivers side has? And how can you decode the metal tag on back?

Re: 69 seat help needed

Your 69 truck might be a very late build. ?? New models came out in September I believe. The date on your seat is August.

That's my best guess anyway.

A truck built in August of 1970 would be a late 1970 model or an early 1971 model.
I think your seat has been swapped out.

Re: 69 seat help needed

I'm excited to see this unfold. I have a seat in almost the exact same condition.

Good luck man!

Re: 69 seat help needed

i kinda figure it's been swapped, my thoughts also were that it would have been a 71 model if manufactured in August of 70

Re: 69 seat help needed

So can anybody help me locate the missing large spring for the bottom on the passenger side? Also- I think I am missing a spring on the handle between it and the track. Should there be some kind of clip holding the rod to the adjuster on the passenger side? I need to find these parts before I start a rebuild- the dang seat moves just slightly on that passenger side and makes a squeaking sound. I can always weld the handle back on I guess- unless I found an entire track...

Any help?
