Lowering Springs

I'm looking for 4in Drop lowering springs for a 1960 stepside and can't find them. I can find them for the rear but I can't find more than 3in drop on front. Any idea why? Any idea where I can find some?

Re: Lowering Springs

If it is a chevy than you should have torsion bars up front and not coils. You can lower the torsion bars by loosening them by turning the bolts on the bottom where they connect to the cross member. or you can buy drop spindles which would give you a 2.5 inch drop but that would require you to switch over to disk brakes. I would do the drop spindles and lower it the rest of the way with the torsion bars. Do a search for previous links on this subject it has been discussed thoroughly.

Re: Lowering Springs

To add to the above info, I don't believe anyone makes a front 4" dropped spring. I had 3" dropped ones and when I jacked the truck off the ground, the springs would end up flopping around in the pocket. I had to always make sure they were set right before I put it back on the ground. 4" springs would likely fall out.

Re: Lowering Springs

The most drop I found in springs were the 3" drop. I had to cut a coil from mine to get more than 3". They are loose when you jack the truck up.
