Tall and Skinnys
OK guys I need some guidance here.
Right now I have some 15x8 rallies on my truck wrapped with 33x9.5r15 tires. I love the way these tires look on the truck. The tires are old though and while they have plenty of tread the sidewalls are starting to check and one has some weird sidewall bulge that does not make me very comfortable, so I think a new set of tires is in my future. problem is the BFG ATs in 33x9.5r15 seem to be on infinite backorder, at least as far as I can tell. So: what are you guys running for tall skinnies on a 15" rim? I don't want to go much wider than 10.5 and would rather stay with a 9.5. I'm also thinking I could switch to a 16 inch rim for more tires options, right? something like a 285/75r16 would be similar correct? But if I do this what are my options for 16" rims with the 6 lug pattern? I'm not into chrome of blingy wheels... I'd honestly almost like to go with a 16" spoked wagon wheel (I know, but I think it would look awesome on the truck), what back spacing would I need if I went that route? Thanks! obligatory picture yet another driveway engine pull!

Re: Tall and Skinnys
Super swamper makes tall skinnys. Just depends of you want that aggressive of a tire.
If you do go 16", make sure its not a trailer wheel. A 285 is pretty close to what you're describing in size, just a little wider. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Tall and Skinnys
thanks. any advice on choosing wheels? specifically backspacing and center hole size?
I was thinking of something like these: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/USW-70-7860/ but I'm thinking I need something closer to 4" backspacing.

Re: Tall and Skinnys
if you do switch to 16's go with the 255-85r16. that's a floatation size of 33x10. On stock or close to stock height rigs they fit well on the stock 7" wide wheels, but the fit well on 8" also.
I'm swapping back down to this size from the 315-75 today! looking forward to the narrow tread tracking again.

Re: Tall and Skinnys
Down here we call them " they fit on 8" wheels"! They ride realy freakin nice too!!
I wanted the old school look. I really did not want to use Interco's because of noise, and this truck is a pavement pounder, ( I have nothing against Interco) ( they make some kick butt hard core tires). |

Re: Tall and Skinnys
You should be able to find some stock 6 lug steelies (or aluminums) easy and cheap and then throw on some 255/85/16. Check out craigslist!
