Another oil question.

I have a rebuilt 350 bored. 040. Im not sure if it has a roller or flat tappet cam. I have the receipt from the PO. I have to look for it, but I was wondering what would be a decent price good oil, and if I should use a zinc additive. Thanks in advance!

Re: Another oil question.

I am going to run conventional, so I probably will check out which of the better brands has a good price or is on sale. Just don't know if I need zinc.
@INSIDIOUS86 so it begins..

Re: Another oil question.

I use whatever name brand oil is on sale and I get for free (with rebate.)
I have 48 quarts of different brand oil in the shed (Mobil, Valvoline, Castrol, etc.), and it was mostly obtained for free. According to all of the reports I have read, conventional oil is all mostly the same. I have never heard of an engine failure because the oil was not the "best" brand available. Same thing for oil filters. I am the only forum member who thinks this way, so consider that in evaluating my post

I agree with you. I just use Pennzoil. Race car drivers use it. They also use Valvoline, Castrol, Mobile, ect. I bought a new Harley in 1999. I was told the warranty would be void if I used any thing but Harley oil. I used Pennz. It ran like a Harley.
