Emission exempt Exhaust Manifolds?

Hello

Today I picked up some manifolds I found on CL. The ad claimed they were off a 89 Burb with a 350. But they are a different design then my 87 manifolds and have no A.i.r injection port or O2 sensor fitting. So after some searching I believe they're off a C/K 88-95 engine. So my questions, Will they work on my 87? To me it looks like I'll need a new y-pipe. And why don't they have the emission stuff?

Thanks

Re: Emission exempt Exhaust Manifolds?

Most "Air injection tube" manifolds went away when fuel injection came along.

My 87 has the "O2" sensor in the left manifold but I think they switched it to the Y-Pipe after a few years.

My '89 Burb has the O2 in the Y-pipe.

Ok, so did the 88-95 trucks not have the air injection system? Also you guys think they'll work if I also use a y-pipe from a similar year?

Re: Emission exempt Exhaust Manifolds?

So think I could drill & tap the holes for the air injection and o2 sensor? Or remove the entire air system, which worries me. No smog test here for cars older then 1995 but they do a visible inspection for cars newer then 35 years old

drill and tap ,sounds risky
if they hook up the same get a set for inspection time

Re: Emission exempt Exhaust Manifolds?

Depends on how strict the visual inspection is. I have no emissions equipment on my truck thanks to the previous owner, hell the charcoal can is gone. It passes the visual check just fine. My 92 Honda has no cat and the inspection guy says nothing about that either.

Well I guess I hit up the junk yards and look for another set. My truck is mostly stock, and I'd kind of like to keep it that way, for the most part.

Re: Emission exempt Exhaust Manifolds?

before you use them, clean out the bumps if they have them
it helps with sound/flow
