Drop Kits??
Well, I was looking to drop my 84 Chevy SWB 3/5. Seems like good stance with c-notch the frame. Question is, Which is better to go with these days on the rear. Ive seen flip kits, drop shackles, leaf springs. Which would be more efficient for driving daily? I was thinking a belltech kit. Just not sure what all to get for that drop.

Stay away from djm and go with belltech or western.
If you just driving as a daily driver and not really hauling any loads. You can get away without the c notch. Mines dropped 7 in back and no c notch. And has almost 3 inches left. With drop shackles and and hangers you have to notch the bed and grind rivets off the front Posted via Mobile Device

i used a western chassis flipp kit which i think was around $120. it dropped the back about 6-7"
. that was with 5 leafs and the overload. with 2 dirtbikes in my bed, the right side of the axle (this side sags a bit) with hit the frame on big bumps. for 5" i would go with a flip kit that way if you want to go 2" lower you have a couple choices

Whats about the front? Should i just get 2" drop spindles and 1 inch springs? And imma need some drop shocks too right?

Where did yall get the western kits? Cause i dont see any pricing on their site. And I really cant spend $800 on a kit. Thats just way too much money for me. I was thinking along the lines of around $300 to 350.

I just bought a Western Chassis drop (I'm doing a 5/7). These parts are top notch.
I would buy a flip kit for the rear. (No notch is required for 5"). This gives you options in case you want to go lower later, you would only need to add shackles. For the front, I would buy 3 inch spindles (be sure to check your rotor thickness - some are 1" thick and other are 1.25" thick). Be careful with the 3" spindles too becuase you will have some interference if you plan on running 15" rims. Me personally, I would just go with 2.5" and see how that looks. If you need more drop, just cut 1/2 of a coil (1 full coil will give you 2" of drop). This will give you 3.5 drop up front. That should look good with a flip, but to each his own. BLUE SQUARE |

Yeah, Im running 15x8 cragars up front. SoIll run into clearence issues? What about the kit i Posted above in the link. Its a full 3/5 kit. But it doesnt look like it comes with spindles, just springs.

In most cases, you will have to grind the drip rails because of the smaller diamater of the wheels. There just is not enough clearance. |

This guy actually did a 4/5 and it looks really good. 3" springs will give you a rough ride. You should just buy 2" spindles and 2" springs up front. |
