Ride quality with 5 inch drop up front
Ok i want to lower my 87 swb with a 5 inch drop up front and was planning on using 3inch bell tech spindels and 2 inch springs to keep as much travel as possible. But in the future as I build my project I want to run a wilwood big brake kit with 14 rotors and with that being said I have to use cpp modular spindels which are only 2inche drop and would have to use a 3 inch spring. Will I have a bad ride quality meaning stiff, bouncy or bottoming out on bump stop.Any recommendations for a good set up would be greately appreciated.

Re: Ride quality with 5 inch drop up front
I have 3" spindles and a cut factory spring, about 6" total drop in the front. You will need to play with the bump stops a bit, but it rides well. Looks good, too. My advice would be to get the modular spindles now, if that is the way you will ultimately be going. You can always upgrade the brakes later.

Re: Ride quality with 5 inch drop up front
I have 3 inch drop springs and 3 inch spindles. I almost think the front of my truck isnt stiff enough. But I have mine built to handle and any stiffnes or bouncyness comes from bad shocks

Yes im thinking about getting the modular spindels and up grade the brakes later but using a 2 inch drop spindle and a 3 inch drop spring will limit the travel due to a shorter spring.

I don't know your fab skills, but have you thought about sectioning the crossmember? You can go up to 1.5" with out any problems and gain some ground clearance in the process.

Re: Ride quality with 5 inch drop up front
Mine is dropped 5.5 in the front with cut coils. It will bottom out on the bump stop mounts (rubber removed) just before the a-arms hit the ground. Took a bit of work to get it aligned but its fine now. The ride is the same as it was stock. I wish it was a little stiffer now that its so low. I might change to some 3/4 ton coils and chop them to the same height. That might stiffen it up a little bit. Rides like a cadillac right now, but I prefer the sports car feel.

I want to cut the factory bump stop mount off my a-arms and weld up a new steering stop. My truck drops like an inch and it smacks the bump stop mount. It would be perfect if I didnt make any contact at all.
