project thunder

well first things first im on a mission to restore most of this 1964 gmc to glory starting with getting it roadworthy i paid 750 dollars for it on ksl its still at the owners house awaiting a tow home on thursday after work it has a 230 cubic inch chevy inline 6 4 speed manual what i call lake pipes on either side for a total of six outlets original seat steering wheel a previous owner cut the muffler out so im putting in a glasspack needs the highbeams looked at they dont work the interior, carb replaced original one still is on there but i have to close the choke up by hand to keep the motor from winding up needs a new drivers side door glass and track and some hornets nests in the passenger door exterminated
did find a 1964 nickel in behind the seat

Re: project thunder

I wait with baited breath, I was smiling like a jacka** eating thistles when I brought mine home! It was a two hour drive home, after meeting the transport driver, and 1.5 hours at customs.... epic!

Re: project thunder

starting 10 miles away in magna utah the seller got thunder out to the driveway before i got there, the previous owner before him had set the idle speed screw all the way in so we backed that out tried to start her up she ran for one minute and backfired out of the exhaust we adjusted the carb a bit more and this time a flame shot out the carb about a foot high so i decided its best we tow it unfortunatly i only had a rope with hook ends well lets pray it works hooked up my dad in the 64 me in the ford well 4 miles down the road the rope snapped in the middle of the intersection so me and two passerbys pushed it out of the way and then one of em said hed be right back with something to help low and behold he comes back with a tow chain i said if i break this i have some explaining to do well we got it home at a miserable 15 mph pissing everyone behind us off its here and its the oldest vehicle in the lot so ill try putting the new carb on and hooking the choke up properly, did find out the seat slides forward and there was a bottle of isle de tahiti from bath and body works near the gas tank and i found the original owners adress and number from 10 years ago

Well, a short trip, but epic none the less. Sounds like a story that will be told many times. Did you make a new friend with the tow chain in the process?

Re: project thunder

got the vacumn line hooked up from the carb to the distributor now theres hot exhaust gas somehow entering the intake via the bad gaskets so it runs for 10-15 minutes and then pops and stalls
