Kick down switch for a Holley ?

Besides Lokar is there an after market switch for a TH400
trans hooked to a Holley carb ?
I'm sure Lokar is good stuff, but a bit pricey.

Here is one on Ebay for $25 mounts behind gas pedal. http://compare.ebay.com/like/251117833378 You can make a bracket like I did in my picture and mount it on the intake. You can also look around the wrecking yards as they were used on larger cars with t400's

Don't understand how gas pedal switch works, all I have seen are the switch
located at the carb. My truck didn't have a kick down, so I have no reference.

That switch just takes 12 volts on one side and a wire to the trans on the othet side. It closes at full throttle and sends 12 volts to the trans to kick it down. If you look at my picture I built a bracket that mounted on the intake bolts then put the little stainless cable to the throttle rod so at full throttle it would close the switch. In the stock form I think they mounted under the dash and were activated by the foot pedal. They only did this a couple of years then changed when they went to cable linkage

Now I get it , I was thinking you mounted the switch at the gas pedal.
Reread your description. Looks like the switch must be spring loaded inside and will turn off when the throttle rod is released a little right ?
Simple enough. $25 or even $50 is better than Lokar for over $100.

Went to the internet, where else ?
There is a lot of info and methods, particularly by hot rodders.
B&M makes a small switch . And another guy mentions a jones switch.
Is a relay needed to activate the switch ? seems as though not much amp draw
by the internal switch in transmission.
Still digging and learning.

No relay needed. You can search the junk yards for a factory gas pedal mounted set-up, I see them from time to time. I have the Lokar set-up and while it is pricey its about as good as it gets.

No dout ( I think that is the spelling ) Lokar is a good unit, just that as you all
know a rebuild can go on and on and cost a bunch more than budgeted.
