Re: tire kickers

No. But there is a forum where you can post Bad Deals: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...play.php?f=122

One of the things you can do to ease the frustration is have your shipping figured out before you even list it. That way you don't waste time with folks asking for shipping quotes. I find that most ads on here that do NOT include shipping in the cost get 10 "How much to ship to..." questions, and after receiving a quote, most of them pass. Waste of time. If you have shipping included you won't get any "how much" questions and will be more likely to get a serious buyer.

That being said, stuff happens all the time in folks' lives for one reason or another, and if they back out, they back out, nothing you can do about it. You may want to make a note to yourself and just not do business with that person in the future.

Re: tire kickers

I agree with leddzepp, provide a price with shipping included. As a seller and buyer on this board I have found that to be the answer.
I don't log on every day, and if a part doesn't have a shipping price I certainly want to know what the seller is expecting to get for shipping, so if I post the question, it takes them a day to get to the quote, and me another day to respond, too much time has passed.
If it's a serious problem, make adjustments on your end. Give prices with shipping up front, and take Paypal. A lot of people on this board will pay immediately.

I don't even consider shipping big items anymore. It takes me too long to package it and get a shipping quote, which turns off the buyers.

Re: tire kickers

It happens alot Mike, I keep a list of guys who do it to me, I know how frustrated you are.
I've also went to money orders only, you'd be amazed how many guys say they are going to send a money order and I never get it.
I don't package anything any more till money is in my hands

, or how about when a buyer or picture collector ask for a somewhat hard to find early style BBC part, buyer is told its available along with a price, buyer knowing the price then ask for pics, seller never hears a word again from the potential buyer only after taking the time to pull the parts out, take and send some pictures. I guess what was once known as common courtesy is NOT so common these days. Mel

Yes ma'am, i understand, aint no sense in all of us getting fired up. i agree with above suggestion. keep a personal list of the guys who do that, then if you ever sell anything or buy anything, avoid them. ive been selling and buying car parts(engines, trucks, heads etc) on craigslist for 3 yrs. ive started a list of all the jerks that have either blown me off, sold it out from underneath me, or were just a flat jerks. ive actually had a few people text me on something else, them having no clue i was the same guy, fixing to do the same thing and i either didnt respond or told them it wasnt forsale to them. easy as that. keeps you from getting pissed all the time.

Re: tire kickers

I guess I'm a tire kicker. I've back out on multiple deals because the cost of shipping was so crazy. Not the buyer or sellers fault. However, I'm sure most of use can't justify $100 plus in shipping one item.

That being said I noticed that most of you that have posted come from warmer states where these trucks are plentiful and relatively rust free. In the northeast (salt states) we don't have this luxury, so everything we buy is from the lower states, which equates to the price of shipping an item.

Like stated above if shipping is included in the listed price that will make me consider the item alot more. As opposed to asking the buyer what the shipping will be and doing that whole song and dance (I have done the shipping quote deal and I feel your pain)

Also, most wont consider the price of shipping items in their build. But it does play a factor in the final cost of the truck. So like most of us the buyer wants to keep the price down. So if shipping is crazy, most will step back. (example, If a seller is in California with a fender and hasn't listed a shipped price. I won't even consider it because I know it's a PITA for the seller to do the whole, get a price from this shipper and that shipper, blah, blah, blah)

Not trying to start a conflict, just constructive discussion to take into consideration.

Re: tire kickers

Our thoughts. We try to always list prices shipped. We do not ship large parts. We do try to answer all questions and offer extra pics,, to a point... Not usually a problem on this site. Like I said, just our thoughts on the subject..

Re: tire kickers

I have sold a bunch of left over parts over the years but so far I have always had good luck. I always boxed and shipped once the money was in my hands.

Re: tire kickers

I don't mind paying for QUALITY packaging on rare items.
I don't mind paying these outrageous shipping costs if the parts make it to me in one piece.

I DO HATE,... when someone quotes a lower shipping price to make the sale,... and then the part arrives damaged because MORE packing would have made the shipping costs higher due to the weight and/or size of the box.
(just an example,... not saying this happened to me)

Lets be honest and communicate with each other.
Just because you can shove a $400+ super nice AM/FM radio in a flat rate box,... doesn't mean it will arrive undamaged.
This just happened recently.
Not to me, but here on the board.

Rare parts being turned into junk is what I hate.
But the same consideration should go into shipping a '72 plastic door panel,...

Re: tire kickers

i guess i am a tire kicker. if i see something for sale i want to know more about it. alot of times if i dont have the money at that point of time i rember the quote and get back to them. but tire kickers come with the territory. i have sold quite a few parts for my dodge and if you wanna get what its worth then you have to deal with it. If you dont want to deal with tire kickers, list it 20 bucks cheaper than what the other ones are listed for and it will move and move fast. most of the time this is what i do becuase i am getting more for it than i would sitting around and i dont have to deal with tire kickers. that just my .02 cents worth and most of the time i change back.
